This is the horrifying moment a paraglider snapped in mid-air and spiralled down before falling on the terrace of a house in Kalimpong, West Bengal in western India.

An instructor and tourist were paragliding together on November 25, when their parachute snapped mid-flight, the ensuing fall killing the instructor while the tourist is fighting for his life due to serious injuries.

The terrifying footage was filmed on Choudhary's selfie stick while he was flying with the deceased instructor and shows one of the handles snapping mid-air, causing the loss of control and fall.

The deceased instructor has been recognized as Purushottam Timsinam, 22, while the tourist Gaurav Choudhary, 35, received severe injuries and was admitted to hospital.

Mr. Choudhary is a resident of Patna in Bihar and was on a vacation to Kalimpong. The guard and the instructor was a Nepalese national who worked with the local trip organisers and flew the tourist on a paragliding experience.

Friends of Mr. Choudhary have filed a complaint with the police who are looking into the matter and have initiated an enquiry. The friends blame the activity organisers for poor safety measures that led to this terrible accident.
