Aircel-Maxis case: CBI gets government nod to prosecute P Chidambaram

The CBI has told a Delhi Court that it has requisite sanction to prosecute the Chidambaram's in the aircel maxis case. According to sources, the CBI has fresh evidence that the former finance minister and his son had in face closed offshore bank accounts after a charge sheet was filed in the case. interim protection to P Chidambaram has been extended till December 18. Investigators say Chidambaram violated laws by sanctioning a Rs. 3,500-crore deal that saw Malaysia's maxis buying telecom company Aircel in 2006.
