After leading at halftime, Virginia Tech had to come back late in the fourth quarter to force the first overtime in the history of the rivalry. Tre Turner had a huge game for the Hokies with 4 catches for 69 yards, a 43-yard run, a touchdown, and even a blocked punt that led to another Virginia Tech score. Bryce Perkins played very well for the Cavaliers in a losing effort, ending the night going 14-29 for 259 yards and 3 touchdowns passing, and he also rushed for 112 yards.
