A 19-year-old in the Netherlands went into cardiac arrest and died after trying to get high off of deodorant spray.

A teenager in the Netherlands has died after deliberately inhaling deodorant spray and going into cardiac arrest, reports the Washington Post.
According to a recently published BMJ case report, the 19-year-old was a patient in a detox clinic when he inhaled butane from the spray.
He went into cardiac arrest and, though he was successfully resuscitated at the time, he ended up dying days later.
The paper states: "Drug abuse by inhalation of volatile household product substances is uncommon, however, it can have devastating consequences...Inhalant abuse can be a cause of death in young patients."
CNN notes, the abuse of such solvents is believed to happen mostly among young people in their mid-to-late teens.
