Ohio Legislators Vote To Ban Abortion At 6 Weeks

The Republican-controlled Ohio House of Representatives voted Thursday to pass a six-week abortion ban.
Also known as a "heartbeat bill," the House passed it with 58 votes in favor and 35 opposed.
If the legislation becomes law, it will essentially make abortion illegal in the state.
Under the bill, physicians could be charged with a fifth-degree felony if they administer abortions after six weeks of a pregnancy.
The bill now goes to the Ohio Senate.
