House Democrats Want Change To NAFTA Enforcement
  • 5 years ago

According to Automotive News, House Democrats want changes to President Donald Trump’s new trade deal with Canada and Mexico before they support it.
House Democrat Bill Pascrell, who is postured to chair the Ways and Means Trade subcommittee, said the legislation does not need to change, but how it will be enforced.
The amended agreement includes a requirement that Mexico change its laws to bolster independent unions.
But Democrats say the bill does not provide enough mechanisms to enforce that change.
