Serena Williams Is GQ Woman of the Year for 2018 and Twitter Has Questions The tennis star was named alongside Henry Golding, Jonah Hill and Michael B. Jordan for the Men and Women of the Year honors. The use of “Woman” in quotation marks for Williams’ title sparked controversy. While GQ said it was artistic, some consider it disrespectful. The cover was handwritten by designer Virgil Abloh, who often uses quotation marks in his designs. Abloh and Williams previously teamed up for her US Open Outfit, which featured “Serena” and “Logo” in quotation marks on the clothing. In spite of the questionable use of artistry, the 23-time Grand Slam champion’s new title shows that she is a true tennis icon.
