The death toll from Camp Fire burning in the town of Paradise in Northern California has climbed to 29, authorities reported on Sunday.

This figure puts Camp Fire on par with the Griffiths Park fire in 1933, which also killed 29.

The Camp Fire, believed to be the most destructive in state history, has burned more than 6,000 homes and scorched 111,000 acres, according to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, or Cal Fire.
