The British-Irish Council holds its 31st summit meeting on the Isle of Man. It comes as Prime Minister Theresa May is accused of breaking a promise to her DUP allies over potential customs arrangements after Britain leaves the EU. Speaking at the summit, David Lidington, the de facto deputy prime minister, said: "The Prime Minister has always been very clear we won't accept something that involves carving out Northern Ireland from the rest of the UK." Irish Taoiseach Leo Varadkar also added: "We are at a sensitive point in the negotiations. A successful outcome is not guaranteed but I think it is possible in the next couple of weeks". Scottish First Minister Nicola Sturgeon was also in attendance and commented on the strengthened relationships between Scotland and Wales, and Scotland and Ireland. Report by Thomasl.
