China has promised to make further cuts to its import tariffs and open its economy.
Part of efforts to address criticisms that its trade practices are "unfair."
Speaking at the China International Import Expo in Shanghai on Monday, President Xi Jinping criticized trade protectionism and promoted his country as an advocate for international openness,... vowing to import thirty trillion U.S. dollars worth of goods over the next 15 years.
Washington and Beijing have been hitting each other with one round of duties after another this year.
The leaders of the two nations are set to meet later this month at the G20 in Argentina to see if they can cut a trade deal.
