And he plays it close to type in Larry Crowne, where he not only takes the title role but also writes and directs. The story sees Crowne head to college after being made redundant, where he finds a whole new crowd of eccentric friends and develops a crush on his teacher (who, to be fair, is played by Julia Roberts).
