Hacking Electronics For Repair Purposes Now Legal

Digital Trends reports that it’s no longer illegal to "hack" your electronics to repair them.
This after the Library of Congress and U.S. Copyright Office have proposed new laws.
The laws would give customers and repair shops the ability to carry out software hacks on devices.
The hacks would be legal if they are made with the purpose of carrying out repairs or maintenance.
The ruling represents a huge win for the “right-to-repair” movement.
It means consumers can break digital rights management (DRM) and embedded software locks.
The proposed law is called the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA).
A massive 85-page document lays out all the new exemptions included in the act.
