Many Americans taking part in the Mega Millions lottery are clinching onto their tickets as they wait to see if they will be the winner of a record 1.6 billion dollars.
The draw will take place at 11 p.m. Tuesday, Eastern Time, so just under five hours from now.
According to the Maryland and Texas Lotteries, if there is no winner then the jackpot could soar to a whopping two billion dollars.
Those unlucky on Tuesday can still try their luck the following day for the 620 million-dollar Powerball jackpot.
