PETA Suggests Cow's Milk Is Symbol Of White Supremacists

PETA faced backlash for a tweet about cow's milk.

The People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals recently suggested that cow's milk is a symbol of white supremacists. PETA tweeted that assertion along with a link to its longer, though not entirely explanatory piece on the matter. In it, the animal rights organization noted: "As when Christoph Waltz's character in 'Inglorious Bastards' drinks a glass of milk and a character in a pivotal scene of 'Get Out' sips the cow secretion, dairy milk has long been embraced as a symbol of white supremacy."  A recent New York Times piece provided bit more context for the claim. According to the publication, the field of human genetics is increasingly being appropriated by white supremacists. "In recent months, some scientists have spotted distortions of their own academic papers in far-right internet forums," the Times noted. One of those misuses of science involved a picture of "a group of white nationalists chugging milk at a 2017 gathering to draw attention to a genetic trait known to be more common in white people than others — the ability to digest lactose as adults."
