The United Nations Command said it has verified the initial mine clearance done so far at the Joint Security Area in Panmunjeom,... in close coordination with South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff.
The U.S.-led United Nations Command issued an official statement Friday morning that its verification work of mine clearance at the JSA lays the foundation for the next steps in implementing the comprehensive military agreement signed at last month's inter-Korean summit in Pyeongyang.
The military agreement includes a range of measures to reduce border tensions, including mine clearance in the JSA, designation of no-fly zones around the border area, the removal of some guard posts and the reduction of arms in DMZ.
The UN Command stressed it will continue to closely work with both Koreas to synchronize implementation of the agreement.
