"For the record, I have no financial interests in Saudi Arabia (or Russia, for that matter)," he wrote. "Any suggestion that I have is just more FAKE NEWS (of which there is plenty)!" On Monday, MSNBC's Ali Velshi delved into Trump's personal financial history with, though not necessarily in, Saudi Arabia. They date back to 1991, when, according to Velshi, "Then-businessman Trump was flirting with bankruptcy until a Saudi prince bought Trump's 282-foot yacht for $20 million." "Four years later, the Trump Plaza Hotel was losing money," Velshi further noted. "The same prince joined with other investors in a $325-million deal to boost the Trump property. And in 2001, the 45th floor of Trump World Tower was sold to the Saudi government…the president even bragged about his business dealings with Saudi Arabia during the 2016 presidential campaign." That report came after President Trump defended Saudi Arabia's King Salman's denial of having anything to do with the disappearance of journalist Jamal Khashoggi. Khashoggi was last seen walking into the Saudi Embassy in Istanbul on October 2.
