According to Business Insider, "The American dining experience is vastly different state to state and restaurant to restaurant, but still wildly different from other countries' expectations." Apparently, unlike other countries tipping mandatory and is expected to be at at least 15-20%. Waiter are also often more personable, because they are working for tips in the US. Finally, free refills are extremely common in the US, but extremely rare around the world.
