Padma Vibhushan Sangeet Martand Pandit Jasraj and Chowmahalla Palace are jointly organizing the 41st Pandit Motiram Pandit Maniram Sangeet Samaroha from 29th November to 1st December 2013 at Chowmahalla Palace, Hyderabad in memory of Pandit Jasraj' s father, Sangeet Ratna Pandit Motiram and his elder brother & Guru Sangeet Mahanohopadhya Pandit Maniram .
ROOTS
This festival has been organized by Sangeet Martand Padmavibhushan Pandit Jasraj for the last 40 years as a Musical homage to his Gurus. A few hours before his father Sangeet Ratna Pandit Motiram was to be honoured as the Royal singer in the court of the Nizam,(today known as the Chowmahalla Palace), he left for the heavenly abode. At that time Pandit Jasraj was only 4 years old.
HISTORY
In the past 40 years not once has he acquired any sponsorship or sold tickets for organizing the event. This event is therefore a free public event.
Each year Pandit Jasraj takes great pride in featuring the best of younger talent from different genres of music (Hindustani & Carnatic Classical). These are some of the eminent artists whom he proudly presents as the next line up of cultural ambassadors along with some of the contemporary maestros of our great tradition of Indian Music. This year too he has personally chosen power house performers for the discerning audience of this twin city which he considers his home. For this unconditional service he has been bestowed with the title of "Son of Hyderabad."
