Beyoncé and Jay-Z both took the stage at the City of Hope gala near Los Angeles.. According to Access, the gala is a charity event raising money for cancer research. At the event Jay-Z gave Warner/Chappell Music Publishing CEO Jon Platt the Spirit of Life award. Soon after Beyoncé sang on stage and said some heartfelt words towards Platt. She said: “Most people lead with their ego, but you lead with your heart.”
