Soyuz spacecraft crew, US astronaut Nick Hague and Russian cosmonaut Alexei Ovchinin landed safely in Kazakhstan, and have boarded a plane to return from the landing site.

Russia's Investigative Committee said it had opened a criminal investigation into the matter.
