The Audi A4 can be a line of compact executive cars produced since 1994 with the German car manufacturer Audi, a subsidiary on the Volkswagen Group. The A4 may be built in five generations and it is based within the Volkswagen Group B platform. The first generation A4 succeeded the Audi 80. The automaker's internal numbering treats the A4 to be a continuation in the Audi 80 lineage, while using initial A4 designated as being the B5-series, followed through the B6, B7, B8 along with the B9. The B8 and B9 versions with the A4 are designed on the Volkswagen Group MLB platform given to many other Audi models and potentially one Porsche model within Volkswagen Group. The Audi A4 automobile layout has a longitudinal engine front-engine design, with transaxle-type transmissions mounted at the rear from the engine.
