Navaratri 2018: Puja Vidhi, Timings and Importance Navratri has been derived from two words—"Nav" and "Ratri", which means "nine nights". This festival is widespread throughout India. This festival is celebrated by Hindus in order to express their devotion towards Goddess Durga (also known as the goddess of power), which continues for nine days. Each day is associated with a different form of the goddess. After following the rituals for nine days, the 10th day is celebrated as Dussehra, which is also known as Vijay- Dashmi. Dussehra is celebrated to mark the victory of Lord Rama over Ravana.


ನವರಾತ್ರಿ ಎಂಬುದು ನವ ಮತ್ತು ರಾತ್ರಿ ಎಂಬ ಎರಡು ಪದಗಳಿಂದ ಬಂದಿದೆ. ಅಂದರೆ ಒಂಭತ್ತು ರಾತ್ರಿಗಳ ಕಾಲ ಸಂಭ್ರಮಾಚರಣೆ ಎಂಬುದು ಈ ಪದದ ಅರ್ಥವಾಗಿದೆ. ಭಾರತದಾದ್ಯಂತ ಈ ಹಬ್ಬವನ್ನು ಅತ್ಯಂತ ಪಹತ್ವಪೂರ್ಣವಾಗಿ ಆಚರಿಸಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ದೇವಿಯ ಕಡೆಗೆ ತಮ್ಮ ಭಕ್ತಿಯನ್ನು ತೋರಿಸುವುದು ಈ ಹಬ್ಬದ ಪ್ರಮುಖ ಅಂಶವಾಗಿದೆ (ದೇವಿಯು ಶಕ್ತಿಯ ಇನ್ನೊಂದು ಹೆಸರಾಗಿದ್ದಾರೆ) ಈ ಆಚರಣೆ ಒಂಭತ್ತು ದಿನಗಳ ಕಾಲ ಮುಂದುವರಿಯುತ್ತದೆ.
