Double red flags raised as monstrous waves attack Dauphin Island beach ahead of Hurricane Michael landfall
  • 6 years ago
Beaches along the Gulf saw churning waves and high tides on Monday, October 8, as Hurricane Michael tracked closer.

Forecast to make landfall in the Florida Panhandle on Wednesday, Michael was upgraded from a tropical storm to a hurricane earlier in the day.

This video, filmed on Dauphin Island at around 1 pm, shows the rocky waves. On the west end of the island, cars drove through waterlogged roads as low-level flooding began to hit.

Authorities predict that it will be the area's strongest hurricane in at least 13 years.
