Trump Doubles Down On 'Paid Professional' Anti-Kavanaugh Protesters

President Trump on Saturday doubled down on a conspiracy theory concerning those protesting Brett Kavanaugh's nomination to the Supreme Court.
President Trump on Saturday tweeted about the expected Senate vote to confirm Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, while slamming those who are opposing Kavanaugh.
"Women for Kavanaugh, and many others who support this very good man, are gathering all over Capitol Hill in preparation for a 3-5 P.M. VOTE. It is a beautiful thing to see - and they are not paid professional protesters who are handed expensive signs. Big day for America!" Trump wrote.
The president went after the protesters on Friday as well. "The very rude elevator screamers are paid professionals only looking to make Senators look bad," he tweeted. "Don't fall for it! Also, look at all of the professionally made identical signs. Paid for by Soros and others. These are not signs made in the basement from love! #Troublemakers." Billionaire George Soros has given generously to many liberal causes and candidates, but it's unclear if he supplied the signs or if they were simply created on a computer and printed at any one of a number of affordable, quick-service shops. Some of those staging protests outside of elevators in the Capitol Hill confronted Republican Senator Orrin Hatch on Thursday, notes Slate. He dismissed the women, told them to "grow up," and then waved at them while standing behind a security detail.
