Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley spoke on the second day of the Hindustan Times Leadership Summit 2018. On the topic of 2019 elections, he said “mahagathbandhans are a tried, tested and failed idea in India”. He called it an experiment which killed policy. He said that 2019 will be a contest between a side which has a stable government and strong leaders versus an anarchic combination, which would be the mahagathbandhan. He said, “aspirational societies do not commit suicide and I am clear what will happen in 2019.”
