Ukraine Transforms Uninhabitable Chernobyl Into Solar Farm

According to a report by Gizmodo, Chernobyl is once again producing power, but instead of the nuclear kind that caused a meltdown 32 years ago, Ukraine has transformed the contaminated area into a solar farm. The land reportedly won't be habitable for people for another 24,000 years, but thanks to the new solar station's 4 acres of photovoltaic cells it will help produce enough energy to power up to 2,000 households. Gizmodo reports that in addition to repurposing abandoned land, the project will help to make Ukraine more energy self-sufficient.
