Indonesia earthquake 2018: The country struggles with aftermath of Sulawesi earthquake and tsunami

A 7.5 magnitude earthquake and tsunami hit Indonesia on Friday, September 28, killing at least 1,200 people. Many more casualties are expected as rescuers are yet to reach the epicentre of the disaster. Rescue workers are struggling to reach survivors buried under collapsed buildings and there are severe shortages of food and essentials. A prison wall reportedly collapsed during the quake, setting free more than half of the prisoners. Indonesian president Joko Widodo visited the stricken area and is overseeing the military aid.
