Justice Ranjan Gogoi on Wednesday was sworn-in as the 46th Chief Justice of India. He was administered the oath by President Ram Nath Kovind. CJI Ranjan Gogoi is the first Chief Justice of India from the north-east and his tenure will end November next year.As is the norm, Gogoi, the senior-most after former CJI Dipak Misra, was recommended by the latter and the appointment was then confirmed by President Kovind in September this year.

సుప్రీంకోర్టు 46వ ప్రధాన న్యాయమూర్తిగా జస్టిస్ రంజన్ గొగోయ్ ప్రమాణ స్వీకారం చేశారు. రాష్ట్రపతి రామ్‌నాథ్ కోవింద్ గొగోయ్‌తో ప్రమాణ స్వీకారం చేయించారు. ఈశాన్య భారతం నుంచి సుప్రీంకోర్టు ప్రధాన న్యాయమూర్తిగా బాధ్యతలు చేపట్టిన వారిలో తొలి వ్యక్తిగా రికార్డు సృష్టించారు జస్టిస్ రంజన్ గొగోయ్. రంజన్ గొగోయ్ పదవీకాలం వచ్చే ఏడాది నవంబర్‌తో ముగుస్తుంది. ప్రస్తుతం పదవీవిరమణ చేసిన మాజీ ఛీఫ్ జస్టిస్ దీపక్ మిశ్రా తర్వాత రంజన్ గొగోయ్ సీనియర్‌గా ఉన్నారు. జస్టిస్ దీపక్ మిశ్రా కూడా తన వారసునిగా జస్టిస్ రంజన్ గొగోయ్ పేరునే ప్రతిపాదించారు.
