Chelsea Clinton on Monday explained why she continues to stand up against the Trump administration even though many of its “horrors” don’t directly impact her.

Chelsea Clinton on Monday explained why she continues to stand up against the Trump administration even though many of its "horrors" don't directly impact her.  The Hill reports that, during an event at Washington D.C.'s Sidwell Friends School, a young student asked the former first daughter about her experiences with rough times.  "I think right now is a rough spot for all of the things that I care about and all the things I think are important in the world," Clinton replied. "And yet I know it's not really a rough spot for me because most of the horrors of this administration won't change my life."  She continued: "I'm protected by the color of my skin, I'm protected by my privilege, I'm protected by the fact that I live in New York City, I'm protected by my immigration status," adding, "I have to use every ounce of privilege that I have to stand up for everything that I believe is right."  It isn't the first time Clinton has noted the importance of speaking out against actions and policies one finds objectionable.  In late May, she told the Guardian in regard to the hate she sees President Trump fomenting, "I think those of us who have platforms to do that have to say this is wrong and unacceptable, so we don't normalize it but try to detoxify what has been unleashed." "Because if we don't, we leave a vacuum. And I think the darkness fills that vacuum," Clinton also said. Months later she told Press Association, "I'm outraged every day by something our president has done or said or left undone or neglected, or who he has recently bullied on Twitter or television."
