Thousands of farmers arrived at Delhi-Uttar Pradesh border during ‘Kisan Kranti Padyatra’. The 'Kisan Kranti Padyatra' has been organised by farmers under the banner of Bhartiya Kisan Union. Heavy security has been deployed at the Delhi-Uttar Pradesh border to avoid any untoward incident. Earlier on September 30, the Union had announced that the 'Padyatra' that began from Haridwar will reach the national capital on the occasion of the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi on October 2. Farmers participating in the movement are seeking complete loan waiver and reduction in electricity tariff, among other requirements. They are also demanding a provision of pension to every farmer aged above 60.
