At a meeting with the world's top Olympic official, President Moon Jae-in discussed a joint Korean bid for the 2032 Summer Games,… emphasizing the need to take an early first step on the issue.
Moon met with Thomas Bach, president of the IOC, at the United Nations headquarters in New York, and asked for the world's support to pursue a joint bid with Pyeongyang.
Moon also thanked Bach for kicking-off the cycle of sporting events that led to recent developments towards peace on the Korean Peninsula, referring to the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics that was held in February.
Bach replied that the IOC is always open to the idea of having an early dialogue and said... the co-hosting of the 2032 Olympics would complete the circle that began at PyeongChang.
The two also discussed ways to field unified teams in a range of sports at the upcoming 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
