No respite for the common man, fuel price hike continues, will Govt act ?

There's no respite for the common man as far as petrol prices are concerned. The fuel prices breached the 90 rupees mark in Mumbai yesterday and considering the trend, they're only likely to increase further. While that's the situation in Mumbai, it isn't any better in Delhi, Kolkata and Chennai where the prices continue to rise steadily beyond the 80 rupees mark. The last time the government spoke on the matter, it threw its hands up in the air, asking state governments to intervene and provide relief. The question really is- with the ever increasing global crude oil prices, is it time for India to look at real alternatives.
