The Supreme Court on Tuesday declined to interfere in a plea seeking to debar candidates facing charges from contesting elections and has stated that MPs, MLAs would not be disqualified before . The top court has now left it to the parliament to decide on the issue.

ఎన్నికల్లో పోటీచేసేందుకు నేరస్తులకు అడ్డంకులన్నీ తొలగిపోయాయి. ఎన్నికల్లో పోటీచేసేందుకు నేరస్తులు అనర్హులుగా ప్రకటించాలని పిటిషన్‌ను విచారణ చేసిన సుప్రీంకోర్టు ... ఆ పిటిషన్‌ను తోసిపుచ్చింది. కేవలం ఛార్జ్‌షీట్ ఆధారం చేసుకుని నేరస్తులను ఎన్నికల్లో పోటీచేయకూడదని చెప్పలేమని సుప్రీంకోర్టు ఛీఫ్ జస్టిస్ దీపక్ మిశ్రా తీర్పు ఇచ్చారు. కేవలం అభియోగాలు నమోదైతే వారిపై అనర్హత వేటు వేయలేమని.. అయితే వారు ఎన్నికల్లో పోటీ చేయొచ్చో లేదో అన్న విషయాన్ని పార్లమెంట్‌కే వదిలేస్తున్నట్లు స్పష్టం చేసింది.
