Before MSN(Messi - Suarez & Neymar) and BBC(Bale-Benzema-Cristiano) there was only one trio which was world famous for their breathtaking attack and uncatchable pace of scoring goals and that was Cristiano Ronaldo-Wayne Rooney-Carlos Tevez. Pundit Gary Neville has talked about one of his favourite times at Manchester United when their strikeforce was Cristiano Ronaldo, Wayne Rooney and Carlos Tevez.
The former defender was lucky enough to play with several amazing players in his two decades at Old Trafford including David Beckham, Ruud van Nistelrooy and Peter Schmeichel.
Despite this, he had huge praise for the Portuguese player who recently extended his contract at Real Madrid.
In his Sky Sports column, Neville wrote: “I’ve always said that Paul Scholes, Ryan Giggs and Roy Keane were the three great players I played with over a long period, but for three years from 2006 to 2009, Ronaldo set a standard you can only dream about.
“It was a magical time when he was playing with Rooney and Carlos Tevez; I’ve never seen anything like it. It was amazing to watch and he was the pinnacle of it.
“After leaving United, he has gone on to become the best player in the world – and I think that’s been proven by the Ballon D’Or wins.”
Since leaving Old Trafford, the 31-year-old’s career has continued to flourish and he has now been in Spain for seven years.
This summer he won the European Championships in France with Portugal, as well as his second Champions League with the Spanish side at the end of the last campaign.
Alongside those he has won La Liga once and has three Premier League titles from his six years at Manchester United, not to mention he has won several cup competitions in both countries.
