Maulanas refuse reform, says Sharia is above court; opposes Triple Talaq ordinance

Days after the union cabinet cleared an ordinance on triple Talaq, the All India Muslim personal law board has expressed displeasure over it. The Muslim body has said it will either approach the sc or work with the opposition to stall the bill in the Rajya Sabha in the winter session. The AIMPLB claims that the passage of the ordinance is an attempt to malign the image of the Muslim community. They say it’s the policy of the government to lead a campaign against Shariat laws with some Muslim women on their side.
