Leopard enters home to hunt pet dog in India

This was the moment a leopard entered a home to hunt a pet dog.

The dog fled to save its life in vain. The leopard quickly found its prey and sneaked out of the home carrying it.

The incident occurred at Kothagiri in Tamil Nadu, India, on September 15.

A government officer was worried that his pet dog had gone missing on September 15. The dog had been barking in the night and there was no trace of it the next morning.

It was only when he viewed the footage of the CCTV cameras installed in his house the alarming truth came out.

The footage shows a leopard leaping into the house and pursuing the dog. The leopard is later seen leaving the house with its kill.

Residents of Kothagiri complain that bears, leopards and wild boars have been straying into their homes from a nearby forest looking for food.

“The forest department has to put an end to this. Last month, a bear entered a home with two cubs,” said P Manivannan, 47, a resident of the town.

Activists say people have encroached forest land to expand tea gardens or build resorts and homes shrinking the space for wild life and forcing animals to step into the town.
