The comedy of crosstalk

Crosstalk, or Xiangsheng in Chinese, is a traditional Chinese folk art. It originated from the ballad singing tradition found in North China in the Ming Dynasty. By the early days of the Republic of China, Crosstalk evolved from vocal mimicry or Kouji into solo monologue. The name was also changed to Crosstalk, or Xiangsheng.
