Thousands demand bullfighting ban in Spain protest march

Thousands of people gathered in Madrid's Puerta del Sol on Saturday to protest against the country's bullfighting tradition. Several hundred activists came from across Spain to participate in the demo which was organised by the Spanish animal rights political party, PACMA. Protesters held up handkerchiefs similar to those used in the San Fermin festivities in Pamplona, which include a bull run and bullfight.

Campaigners are demanding the end of bullfighting in Spain, especially the so-called becerradas, which uses young calves rather than adult bulls.
