Police forced to shoot in the air to disperse looters during the Airgate mall demolition

Saturday became the centre of attention after the one month notice issued to the tenants of Airgate mall expired and the bull dozers came calling.
The threat to demolish the Airgate Mall in Embakasi, Nairobi was finally made good after the government through the Nairobi regeneration team embarked on the exercise early Saturday morning, with police forced to lob teargas to disperse a rowdy crowd that had engaged in looting.
This even as the owner of the building remained adamant, insisting he had acquired the land legally and that he would escalate the matter to the directorate of criminal investigations.
