A once-healthy section of dunes in Avon, North Carolina, was wiped out as Hurricane Florence battered the eastern coast of the United States on September 14.Video shared to social media showed the devastation to the native vegetation the morning after the storm made landfall along the North Carolina coast.The National Weather Service warned that the possibility for “life-threatening” storm surges and flooding would persist throughout the day on September 14.
