Obama: Republicans Are Willing To 'Put Up With Crazy'

Former President Obama again slammed Republicans on Thursday.

Former President Barack Obama on Thursday criticized Republicans, saying they "put up with crazy" in order to advance their political agenda.
"What you're seeing are Republicans in Congress who are bending over backwards to try to shield and deflect oversight of this behavior from scrutiny and accountability and consequences," Obama said at a speech in Ohio for Democratic gubernatorial nominee Richard Cordray.
"You will read quotes from Republicans saying, 'wow, this is messed up.' Well, why aren't you doing something? 'Well, we can't, because we really like these tax cuts for the wealthy. We really like deregulation so polluters can pollute some more. So we'll put up with crazy,'" Obama told the crowd, "Well, I know you won't."
Days prior, Obama warned that if voters don't "step up" for the 2018 mid-term elections, "things can get worse."
During a Democratic rally for Congressional candidates in California on Saturday, Obama said, "The stakes are high in this election. This is a consequential moment in our history. And the fact is that if we don't step up things can get worse."
He added: "Where there's a vacuum in our democracy, when we are not participating, we're not paying attention, when we're not stepping up--other voices filled the void. But the good news is, in two months, we have a chance to restore some sanity in our politics. We have the chance to flip the House of Representatives."
According to recent projections by the statistics site FiveThirtyEight, Democrats have a 5 in 6 chance of winning control of the House.
