On Friday, former Trump campaign adviser George Papadopoulos was sentenced to 14 days in jail for lying to the FBI.
According to Politico, prosecutors argued that Papadopoulos repeatedly lied to those investigating possible links between the Trump campaign and Russia, hindering their ability to question a crucial witness in the case — Josef Mifsud, who allegedly told Papadopoulos in April 2016 that Moscow had “thousands of emails” that could do damage to Hillary Clinton’s presidential ambitions.
