According to Reuters, security officials in Iraq announced a curfew for the city of Basra.
Home to 2 million residents, Basra is the third-largest city in Iraq.
The curfew was issued by Iraqi security officials with the Basra Operations Command.
The citywide curfew requires people to be off the streets by 9 p.m. local time.
Protesters have taken to the streets all week in Basra, demonstrating against the municipal government for allowing the city's infrastructure to decay.
