Power cuts and empty shelves in Sapporo after strong earthquake

Traffic lights remain off and people queue up for food in Sapporo, Japan, after a heavy earthquake hit the city.

Footage captured this morning (September 6) in the northern island of Hokkaido shows the aftermath of the 6.7-magnitude tremor.

Long queues to enter shops and empty shelves can be seen.

At least eight people are feared to have died in the quake and dozens more injured or missing.

Up to 3 million homes have experienced power outages.
