Typhoon Jebi brought intense winds and rains to Kansai Airport island on September 4.

This video, filmed that day at around 1 pm, shows the extreme weather conditions.

Typhoon Jebi, the strongest storm to hit the country in 25 years, forced the shut down of the busy Kansai International Airport after a 2,500-tonne tanker slammed into the bridge that links the offshore island to the mainland.

Thousands of travelers were left stranded at the airport and without power following the incident. Authorities began ferrying people out of the airport, and buses started to run on one side of the damaged bridge after safety inspections the next day.
