Panda uses bamboo paint brush to create exquisite art worth hundreds

Yang Yang the panda bear isn't just an adorable face at the zoo. Armed with a bamboo paint brush, she creates paintings worth US$600 each.

The panda bear lives at Schoenbrunn Zoo in the Austrian capital Vienna, considered the oldest continuously operating zoo in the world. Her paintings help raise funds for zoo photographer Daniel Zupanc's picture book project about the Viennese zoo’s pandas. Zupanc has been photographing the pandas for over 10 years and that creating this book is "a dream".

According to reports, Yang Yang will paint 100 works of art, each of them selling for US$600 each and coming with an authenticity certificate.

In the footage, Yang Yang is seen handed a paintbrush by zookeepers. He paints large, bold strokes on the canvas while munching on carrots and sweet potatoes.

Zookeeper Eveline Dungl said: “Yang Yang has a lot of fun painting. She can hardly wait to pick up the brush and as soon as she is within reach of it, off we go.”
