California’s North Fire prompted the evacuation of campgrounds near Emigrant Gap in Tahoe National Forest on the evening of Monday, September 3.Placer County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Lt. Andrew Scott told the Sacremento Bee that mandatory evacuations were issued for Onion Valley, North Fork, Tunnel Mills, Lodge Pole, Silver Tip and Sunflower campgrounds. Several roads in the region were also closed.The 500-acre fire, which ignited Monday afternoon, was 10 percent contained as of Tuesday morning.
