U.N. Expert Says Facebook Must Narrow Its Definition Of Terrorism
  • 6 years ago

A U.N. Human Rights Council member said Facebook needs to narrow its “sweeping” definition of terrorism. This would stop governments arbitrarily blocking legitimate opposition groups and dissenting voices. As the definition stands now it could "lead to discriminatory implementation, over-censoring and arbitrary denial of access." This is according to U.N. special rapporteur Fionnuala Ní Aoláin. Ní Aoláin added that Facebook must not unduly interfere in the human rights of its users.
