Venezuela crisis sees nationals flock to Colombia

An estimated 1 million Venezuelan refugees have fled to Colombia in recent years, and Christian Kruger, the director of Colombia’s migration office expects that number to double over the next year, according to the Miami Herald.

Venezuela has been rocked by economic crisis in recent months and the subsequent spike in migration is one of Latin America’s worst-ever. The situation has been exacerbated by an ongoing political turmoil.
