Monster Lizard Invades Florida Family's Backyard

A family in Davie, Florida, found a seven-foot monitor lizard in their backyard earlier this month. Footage Maria and Zach Lieberman recorded on August 26 shows their unwanted visitor.Local media reported that experts said the lizard was likely an Asian or Nile water monitor, an invasive species to Florida.Maria Lieberman first spotted the lizard on August 18. She said that the lizard was likely a pet of someone in a nearby neighborhood.The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission arrived on August 27 to help trap the lizard, along with the Martin County Trap and Wildlife Rescue, but so far the creature has eluded capture.Zach Lieberman said the lizard was a cause for concern as they have young children.
